Tarja Tuupanen, (born 1973, Finland)

White is silent, it is waiting, quiet and calm, it is clear and comforting, and frighteningly empty – like cacholong – so fine and elegant. The white cacholong fascinates me. The slow working process with stone helps me to think how a minimalist form can say a lot and nothing. In a natural material there are all the white shades you can think of.

Eija Mustonen, (born 1961, Finland)

The connection to my own environment and space is the starting point in my working process; randomness and order as it is in nature. The theme is landscape, not just physical space but also psychic state.

Nathalie Lahdenmäki, (born 1974, Finland)

In my object settings I am interested in the qualities of the manufacturing materials: the soft texture of ceramics and textile, the discreet colours, matte, shining and half matte surfaces. I promote beautiful things to create consolation in the everyday life. Beautiful forms have been created since ancient times, sculptured or built with simple materials, like birch bark, bamboo, bone, wood, ceramics, stone, not to mention textile. I play with the idea of transferring old shapes into a new era and media, creating new meanings to them.

Helena Lehtinen, (born 1951, Finland)

My works are about memories from my family, my past; fragments, objects, photos without a camera. Identity is not stabile but in constant movement and change. I'm in between minimalism and kitsch; I hate and love both of them.

Kristina Riska, Born 1960, Finland

One of my very first memories is a shadow moving on a white wall. How the light comes in to the material fascinates me. By cutting holes in to the walls I can make the object transparent. Light comes through the holes and creates illusion. My technique is very slow - I build layer by layer. I wish this silent concentration could be sensed in the object.

Kim Simonsson (Born in Finland 1974)

I made my first sculpture out of snow in the backyard of my childhood home.  I combine traditional ceramic art with popular culture phenomenon in my large ceramic sculptures. For me the unusual is interesting. Therefore I create my own strange world of characters that comment on everyday life and its' weirdness. An important detail in my sculptures is the eyes made out of glass that give the figures a life like appearance. Authority in its' many forms fascinates me and in my works I want to reverse the common beliefs by making the weak powerful.
